Tuesday April 19, 2016  – Presentation was on “Costa Rica” by Prof. Julian Shepherd.  Prof. Shepherd is a professor of Biology at SUNY Binghamton and an avid cyclist.  In 2012 he and Richard Andrus, professor of environmental studies, completed a Broome County Natural Spaces Inventory of 200 fragile and unique habitats. The data was compiled over a 10-year period. The inventory will serve as an invaluable tool to protect areas threatened by encroaching development or environmental degradation.  Prof. Shepherd takes his students to Costa Rica every year.  He talked about some of his experiences.   Hosts were Phyllis and Scott Chaffee, Pat Ronsvalle, and Jim Covey.
