Program – March 20, 2012 – “Butterflies” by Colleen Wolpert.

After Harriet Marsi invited Colleen to her home in the 1990s, Colleen became more serious in her study of butterflies, moths, and the plants they require to keep their life cycle going.  With the introduction of close focusing binoculars, digital photography, and the internet, the study of Lepidoptera went from a hobby to a full blown passion. She is constantly improving habitat at home and at Waterman Center as well as educating others about what they can do to provide butterflies and moths what they need to continue to survive in our region.  As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she also uses butterflies and moths in child and family therapy as well as social skills groups with challenged children in school and other community settings.  Her innovative program has gained national attention.
